The Seattle Shorts Film Festival has five different categories including our newest Music Videos. All films MUST be submitted using Withoutabox, Film FreeWay or submit directly.

College Student Shorts
All genres between 3 to 30 minutes in length, directed, or produced by students attending an accredited college or university.

Entry fee for this category is a rolling $10.00. Proof that the film was shot while attending college or university MUST be included with the submission. ie please email photocopy of Student ID as well as the University the student filmmaker was attending.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

What’s the EXACT leagth you accept for shorts?

Films must not exceed 30 minutes in length, or be less than 3 minutes including credits.

Do you accept films with subtitles?

All non-English language films must have English subtitles or no dialogue.

Do you offer multiple discounts? 

A separate entry fee is required for each submission.

Do you accept DVDs or blu-ray?

NO. The Seattle Shorts Film Festival is dropping DVD submissions due to lack of demand. If you must mail us a preview DVD please label with the WAB#, title, running time and contact information. Please only submit one DVD copy to PO Box 2614 Redmond, Washington 98073

Preview DVDs will not be returned.

Can I withdrawn my submission?

Submissions may NOT be withdrawn from the Festival once they have been entered, except at the sole discretion of the Festival.

Do you have any premiere requirements? 

The Seattle Shorts Film Festival has no premiere requirements. Send us your films!

If my short is selected will it be use for publicity?

All selected films may be excerpted (up to 2 minutes) for publicity purposes.

How will you notice me of my films status?

After selection, notification letters will be sent electronically: all acceptance letters will be accompanied by a telephone call: please provide an email address, and telephone number. The notification date is April 28th, 2017.

Can I use special delivery mail?

Do not send DVDs via special delivery such as Fed Ex. Only regular U.S. mail please.

Filmmaker MUST have proper license to all copyrighted music, video, and images projected in their short film. ​

All accepted films will be screened digitally via ProRes Quicktime at SIFF Film Center. Please note we do not screen off DVD/Blu-Ray. ​

Do you accept Music Videos?

Yes. The Seattle Shorts Film Festival is excited to start accepting music videos from any ​genre. All music videos must be in-between the length of 3 to 8 minutes.

Do you offer fee waivers to alumni?   

Yes. If you directed a film that screened previously at the Seattle Shorts Film Festival please email the festival director for a fee wavier. Note: Only directors are eligible to get the waiver.
