Elgin James director of indie cult film Little Birds will serve on 2017 Seattle Shorts Festival JuryThe Seattle Shorts Film Festival is excited to announce director of indie cult film Little Birds, Elgin James will be joining the 2017 Seattle Shorts Jury!James’ directorial debut, Little Birds, starring Juno Temple & Kay Panabaker, premiered in competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Little Birds was released in 2012 by Millennium Entertainment and the film won a National Board of Review award, James was named one of Variety’s “Ten Directors to Watch” and also made the list of IonCinema’s “The American New Wave 25.” 

Elgin James will be exclusively voting on the 2017 “Best Director” award category.

Actress Allie Grant from Showtime’s Weeds joins 2017 Seattle Shorts Film Festival Jury

The Seattle Shorts Film Festival is proud to announce Screen Actors Guild award nominee actress Allie Grant, will be joining the 2017 Seattle Shorts Jury! She became a household name after landing the lead role of Isabelle Hodes on Showtime’s Weeds for 5 seasons, and Lisa Shay on ABC’ Suburgatory.

Allie also started in the teen indie feature film Struck By Lightning, playing Remy Baker opposite Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. Most recently Allie can be seen in a recurring role on ABC’s The Goldbergs.

Allie Grant will be exclusively voting on the 2017 “Best Actor” award category.

Young Actors’ Theatre Camp scholarship winner!

The Seattle Shorts Film Festival, and the Young Actors’ Theatre Camp would like to congratulate 15-year old Rachelle Henry for winning the full ride scholarship to the 7day/11day Young Actors’ Theatre Camp! Rachelle will get to experience their one of a kind master classes where past instructors include Megan Hilty from “Smash”, and James Alsop Beyoncé’s choreographer.​Special thank you to camp founders Shawn Ryan, and John Ainsworth for their support of independent film, and seeing young actors reach their full potential. We’re excited to continue our partnership with YATC in the future!
