The question is why, director/producer/writer Venus DeMilo Thomas isn’t the slightest bit intimidated at the idea of tackling her next short film. The answer is Venus DeMilo, actress. “After starring in the Nickelodeon series, “Salute Your Shorts,” Venus moved onto recurring roles on shows including “The Bold & The Beautiful”, “Family Matters”, “My So-Called Life”, and “Sister, Sister”. She was featured in the hit film “Life”, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.
It was while attending Loyola Marymount University and concurrently working at the family owned Thomas Talent Agency that Venus began to contemplate stepping behind the camera. Her short “Did I Wake You?” (Sundance 2001) is an ambitious unflinching look at the lives of African-American teenagers, the success of this film convinced Venus she was moving in the right direction. Now with both her acting and directing/producing careers in full swing, and with the experience of working at The Thomas Talent Agency, Venus prepares to combine these talents with the direction of her next short film.
Rae Dawn Chong was born in Alberta Canada she is the eldest daughter of comedian Tommy Chong. She started acting at age 12 appearing in Disney’s “Whiz Kids of Riverton” 40 year later she is still making movies appearing in the Duplass brothers film “Jeff who lives at home” which also starred Susan Sarandon and Jason Segal. She is currently awaiting an edit on a teaser for a pilot she wrote called”The Celebrant” which she is crowd funding on Indiegogo. She is excited about the prospect of filming and living in her adopted home state of New Hampshire.
She has lived in the granite state for 7 years and calls it home. She is currently on the board of the New Hampshire Film Festival which begins Oct. 16 thru 20th The film festival is held in downtown Portsmouth. Rae has acted in numerous feature films and starred in two television series “Mysterious Ways” on NBC/PAX and Wild Card on Lifetime television. She has also guest starred in numerous TV shows. She hopes to continue her success with writing and producing she has 4 more pilot scripts waiting in the wings to produce and she is excited to see how successful her crowd funding will be…the future looks bright!
Christina Rose recently starred in and produced the award winning film ‘How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song‘ in which critics called her performance “perfect”. She’s appeared on Broadway in GREASE and has been able to use her acting, dancing, and singing chops in Film, Television, Theatre, Commercials, and Voiceover work.
TV appearances include ’30 Rock’, ‘All My Children’, ‘Saturday Night Live’, and ‘Flight of the Concords‘. National Commercials include spots for ‘SyFy Channel’, ‘Discover Card’, ‘Spike TV’, and ‘Axe Body Spray’. Top film highlights include her starring role in ‘Death of the Dead’ in which THE JADED VIEWER calls her performance “spot on brilliant.” You can watch Christina’s latest film ‘Eleven Eleven’ in 2015 in which she stars opposite Breaking Bad’s Charles Baker.
With films seen in well over 50 film festivals and screenings, Ashley is an actor, currently appearing in SAG AFTRA New Media web series “Look Up in the Sky,” as well as several commercials and short and feature films by local, national, and international filmmakers. She has been an active artist working in the film industry for over 10 years in Seattle, Portland, New York, and Los Angeles.
Since graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Theater, Ashley has worked nonstop in film, television, theater, radio and dance.
Candy Freeman is no stranger to filmmaking. The daughter of a 2x Emmy Nominated producer, Candy is the Co-Founder & Editor-In-Chief of I Am Entertainment® Magazine, the 2013 Atlanta Award winner for “Magazine Publisher of the Year”. Prior to co-founding I Am Entertainment, she managed the successful careers of several highly recognizable actors; for example, IronE Singleton (T-Dog from “The Walking Dead”) and award-winning actor, Jeff Rose (from MTV’s “Teen Wolf”).
Under Candy’s leadership, I Am Entertainment® has become one of the fastest growing media brands covering the ins and outs of the film and television business. She is now prepared to lead her company into 2014 as a broadcast media company. Candy is an alumna of Park University where she majored in Communications/Broadcast Radio.
Sarah has been performing onstage through dance and theatre for her entire life, but shifted her focus to TV and Film several years ago when she moved to Seattle. Since then she has appeared in dozens of films, web series, music videos, commercials, and has given her voice to animated characters. Sarah was recently published in Self Management for Actors with an article entitled “Starting Out in a Smaller Market” praising the performing arts community in Seattle. She is currently a Semi-Finalist for a brand new multi-media show called The Reel Deal, where she would represent Seattle on a short film team with a celebrity mentor. Earlier this year, she completed a short film in which she played twin sisters struggling with their relationship.
Sarah graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre from Knox College, having participated in both the college’s unique Repertory Theatre term and a semester study abroad at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. She double majored in Neuroscience and was working towards her Ph.D. in Genetics with two fellowships, when she shifted her energies to acting for good. Sarah is also an HIV/AIDS educator and will be the MC for the Orange County AIDS Walk in May 2014.
